THE DEPARTMENT AND THE POSITION
The Tracy Fire Department/South County Fire Authority offers a distinct range of services to over 100,000 people, and covers approximately 170 square miles throughout Tracy and surrounding rural areas. Under the general supervision of the Fire Captain, the Firefighter position operates and maintains a variety of firefighting equipment; responds to fire alarms and other emergency calls; protects lives and property; and participates in fire prevention, fire investigations, public education, and station and equipment maintenance and performs other related duties as assigned. In accordance with City policy, incumbents in this class are required to be non-smokers, as part of the qualifications for employment.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have any combination of education, experience, and training to meet the minimum requirements as follows:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Courses in Fire Science or related fields desirable.
Currently employed with a minimum of 2 years, full-time, paid Fire Department experience, with a Fire Department of similar size and scope to the South County Fire Authority.
A valid Certificate of Completion from a California Fire Academy (Firefighter 1).
A valid EMT-P License in the State of California
