Under general supervision, incumbents in this position will perform work of moderate difficulty related to Fire/Rescue Operations, Emergency Medical Services, and Fire Prevention; and will perform related duties as assigned.
Candidates successfully completing all scored assessment processes will be placed on an eligibility list for up to one year.
Candidates who possess a valid paramedic certification and pass all scored assessment processes will be placed on a separate eligibility list. All candidates are hired in the Firefighter or Firefighter Trainee rank, priority may be given to candidates who possess a valid paramedic certification based on operational needs.
These lists may be utilized to fill vacancies for the classification of Firefighter or Firefighter Trainee.
It is anticipated that the academy classes hired from these lists will be a mix of full-time Firefighters and part-time Firefighter Trainees.

Must meet the following requirements to apply:
Graduation from high school or the equivalent
Must be 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver license
Must possess a current certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or above
Must meet the following requirements by Chief`s Interview:
Candidates invited to the Chief`s Selection Interview will be required to submit a passing CPAT notice/card. The passing date of the CPAT card must be within 6 months of the date of Chief`s Selection Interview. Additional information will be provided to candidates invited to participate.
Must possess or obtain one of the following certifications at the time of the final offer of employment:
Southern Nevada Health District EMT certification or above
A State of Nevada EMT certification or above
A National Registry Certification as an EMT or above
The following must be met to continue employment:
Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver license, as defined by NRS 483
Must successfully complete cadet academy within time limits established by the department as a condition of continued employment, to include obtaining a State of Nevada Fire Fighter II Certificate and a Southern Nevada Health District EMS License
Any member hired after July 1, 2014 must reside within Clark County, Nevada within one year of the date of hire

ASSESSMENT DATES & INFORMATION:
Written Examination (Weighted 30%) - Continuous
All candidates who apply and meet the minimum qualifications will receive an email instructing them to register/schedule for the Firefighter Written Exam through the National Testing Network (NTN).
Candidates will be tested on: teamwork, human relation skills, mechanical aptitude, reading comprehension, and mathematics.
Oral Review Board Interview (Weighted 70%) - Continuous
Top scoring candidates who receive a passing score from the written exam will be invited to participate in the Oral Review Board Interview.
Candidates will have the option to conduct their Oral Review Board Interview online in lieu of an in-person interview.
Chief`s Selection Interview - To Be Announced
Top scoring candidates from each list will be invited to participate in the Chief?s selection interviews with priority given to paramedics based on operational needs.
Candidates will have the option to conduct their Chief`s Selection Interview online in lieu of an in-person interview.
