ABOUT THIS POSITION
The Fire Department is seeking a Fire Safety Analyst II. The Fire Safety Analyst II performs advanced professional work in the development and implementation of a comprehensive health and safety program which assures compliance with City, State and Federal safety policies. Specific responsibilities include updating and maintaining the OSHA compliance programs, studying major operational safety problems, conducting safety inspections and training programs, compiling information, analyzing findings, making interpretations, and writing comprehensive reports. The Fire Safety Analyst II will conduct safety and industrial hygiene surveys of employee work practices, and prepare graphs, charts (link analysis, event flow analysis, activity charting), tables and other illustrative devices for visual presentation of data.

The Fire Safety Analyst II will also monitor industrial claims and assist in investigations of serious injuries of employees. Recommendations will be made based on Federal, State, City, and industry-recognized rules, regulations, and procedures dealing with work-place safety, to management and employees.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Knowledge of OSHA General and the Laboratory Standard regulations.

Knowledge of NFPA 1500 - Standard on Fire Department Occupational Safety and Health programs.

Able to work various days and hours and qualify to drive a city vehicle.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Able to work with both sworn and non-sworn employees.

SALARY

$51,771 - $78,770 annually. Candidates may be hired above the minimum depending upon qualifications.
A comprehensive benefits package is offered which includes traditional pension with employer and employee contributions; choice of medical HMO, PPO, or HSA/HDHP plan; wellness incentive of up to $720 annually; dental; vision; life insurance; long-term disability; 401(a) and 457 plans; medical enrollment includes a monthly $150 City contribution to a Post-Employment Health Plan; bus/light rail pass; tuition reimbursement program; paid time off includes 11.5 paid holidays, 12 vacation days, and 15 sick days and personal leave days. Pension Information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in accident prevention and loss control programs, including at least one year of professional work experience with department-wide safety and employee occupational health, training, and motor vehicle safety programs.

Bachelor`s degree in risk management, safety management, or a related field.

An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered.
