Job Description
Volunteer firefighters train on preserving life and property, safely operating fire apparatus, combating and extinguishing fires, using power tools including Jaws of Life, and learning fireground operating procedures. Respond to approximately 600 calls per year (70% medical emergencies, plus structure fires, vehicle accidents, etc.). Must meet 10% minimum call attendance annually.
Requirements: 18 years or older, valid Connecticut driver's license with satisfactory driving record, pass background checks and physical exam, Firefighter I and II certifications (14-week program with 200+ hours provided by department)
