Entry Level Firefighter

The City of Houma Fire Department seeks highly motivated individuals to serve the community with integrity and courage, protecting the lives and property of citizens. Position includes 24/48 schedule (1 day on, 2 days off), health insurance, pension plan, paid vacation and sick leave. Must pass Civil Service Entrance Exam, interview, background check, physical, psychological screening, and drug screening.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years old, valid Louisiana driver's license, pass Civil Service Entrance Exam (score of 75 or above), Firefighter I certification, pass Firefighter Recruit training program (NFPA 1001 standard)

Salary: Firefighters' starting pay is $31,933.20 per year. After 1 year of service and a Firefighter I certification, all firefighters receive state supplemental pay (an additional $600 per month) for a total yearly salary of $39,133.20 after one year.
